Hi and thanks for taking a look at my site. I’m a guitarist and tutor based in Bristol.
I teach acoustic and electric styles to children and adults from absolute beginners to advanced and everyone in between.
I teach in schools as well as from my dedicated teaching studio at home in Arnos Vale

I have a BA (hons) Music as well as being a graduate of the Musicians institute, London and can offer a variety of styles in a relaxed environment. I am a member of the Musicians Union and am fully CRB checked. Good rates….

Lessons can be either from my teaching studio in Arnos Vale or, if you live in Bristol, I am happy to come to your home*

The studio is well equipped with a range of instruments and teaching aids including computer based learning and recording software.

Lessons are tailored to student’s individual needs and developed according to your personal aims and ambitions. Often students chose to learn via the classics, and from my own experience I have found this to be a very effective method. It allows the student to develop a repertoire whilst the material can provide a great springboard for further investigation of guitar technique and music theory.

You may be a singer looking for the skills to accompany yourself or wanting to learn the fundamentals of harmony in order to write your own songs. Perhaps you are interested in learning a few blues chops or ready to chuck yourself headlong into the abyss of jazz theory.

Whatever direction you chose, all lessons will also be supplemented with either paper or audio based materials to support a thorough and productive daily practice routine.

A little about my personal philosophy…

I have been extremely fortunate to have had some really great teachers over the years. Fantastic musicians with a real passion for the guitar in all of it’s many different guises.

When I was 20 (some time ago now!) I was lucky enough to study at the Musicians Institute in London. An amazing experience not only for the fantastic tutors and having my eyes and ears opened to a whole new guitar shaped world but also, for meeting others who shared my enthusiasm for this wonderful instrument.

I believe passionately that my relationship with the guitar and creative interest in music generally, has had a tremendously positive influence on my life. I think most musicians would say the same. I have always found the journey of study and constant improvement to be massively rewarding and far reaching, way beyond chords and scales (which can be fun too!). I believe this to be true whatever level of ‘ability’ you are at.

Fundamentally, to reach for the guitar whilst the kettle is boiling or the computer is firing up, to see you through a lull in a movie, or to croon away a quiet night in without the TV. To play along with a song, better still, write a song, jam with friends, make new friends…whatever, it is a way of life which I would wholeheartedly recommend for everyone, and it is never too soon or too late to start.
