Blues Licks
There are a load more of these licks over on my youtube channel
1) This jazzy lick sounds great over an A7 chord. It uses a combination of A min pentatonic (A C D E G) and A maj pentatonic (A B C# E F#). When you add these two scales together you can also access the notes of the A dorian mode (A B C D E F# G) and the A mixolydian mode (A B C# D E F# G ). Both these modes are great for jazzing up your blues!
2) This BB king style lick comes from A mixolydian (it includes a major 3rd and a major 6th) and will work great over an A7 chord
3) This jazzy lick sounds great over an A7 chord. It uses a combination of A min blues (A C D D# E G) and A maj pentatonic (A B C# E F#). Watch out for the double bend at the beginning!
4) This blues lick works over an A7 chord and uses notes from both the major and the minor pentatonics arranged in 6ths. You could play it pick and finger (hybrid style) or just one way or the other.
5) This blues lick uses a bit of the A dorian mode (namely the F#-7th fret 2nd string) combined with the A blues scale.
